An endless feast of vitality and vibrancy of life - this is what I would like to convey with my paintings
Valentina Pushkareva is an interdisciplinary artist from Russia, currently living and working in Germany. She was born in a small town near Moscow and studied drawing and music from an early age. As a teenager, she decided to dedicate her life to art.
Valentina first encountered batik in childhood. She later graduated from university in Vladimir, where she studied decorative arts and received advanced training in batik under artist Tatyana Grebneva.
In 2008, Valentina moved to St. Petersburg, where she worked as a textile designer for more than ten years. At the same time, she studied fashion design at the Art Future School of Design. Her graduation collection was presented at prêt-à-porter exhibitions in Paris in 2010 and at London Graduate Fashion Week in 2011.
After the birth of her children, Valentina returned to painting and began working extensively with watercolor. During the years she lived in Turkey, she worked increasingly from life and gradually returned to batik, which has since become the central technique of her artistic practice.
Since 2023, Valentina has been based in Germany and has been a member of the International Batik Guild. Her works have been presented in international exhibitions and projects.
Today, she works primarily with batik on silk, often combining it with hand embroidery, as well as with watercolor, collage, and mixed media. Her work explores memory, migration, home, family, growing up, inner limitations, and personal transformation.
Colour plays a central role in her practice. Through colour, she conveys emotional states, atmosphere, and inner tension. Flowers, landscapes, figurative images, and familiar everyday motifs become a visual language through which she tells personal stories and reflects on what we carry within us through change.
